Sorry it has been so long!
It has been almost a month since I posted anything (oopps)! My family is currently in the process of moving and that has been taking up most of my energy. We are settling into our new house which means I am trying to figure out the new kitchen. Half of our kitchen supplies are still at the old house so cooking and baking has become more of a challenge. It has forced me to clean dishes as I go (which I hate but I have no choice because I keep running out of dishes). But since it is finally Christmas season I figured I would come back with a Christmas cookie recipe. These are cookies that my Grandma has been making for me ever since I was little. I hope you all love them as much as I do!
How to make Chocolate Log Cookies
Step 1: Preheat oven to 350°
Step 2: Cream butter and add the sugar
Step 3: Mix in egg yolks, vanilla, and flour
At this point your dough will look like mine does above ↑
Step 4: Roll dough into logs
Step 5: Use a fork to make indentations into the logs
Step 6: Bake for about 11 min
Step 7: When the cookies cool you can break the bigger logs into smaller (more bite-sized) pieces.
How to make the frosting
Step 1: Cream the butter
Step 2: Mix in the powdered sugar, cocoa, coffee, and vanilla
Step 3: Add a few drops of green food coloring into a bowl with a couple tablespoons of water
Step 4: Add the walnuts to the food coloring mixture, then take the walnuts out and put then on a lined cookie sheet
Step 5: Bake the walnuts for about 6 minutes to dry them out
Step 6: Frost the cookies on both ends and dip the ends into the green walnuts
Step 7: Eat some of the cookies, you deserve it!
Hope you loved making these cookies as much as I did! If you tried making the cookies feel free to comment below or use the hashtag #blissfulwhisking and let me know how it went! Also, check out my instagram for more pictures of all the yummy food I am making
