This recipe has been a family favorite for years. Growing up we made them all the time for parties, birthdays, or as an everyday sweet treat. They are super easy because they have the short cut of using a cake made from a box. It is almost impossible to mess up making a box cake so this recipe is perfect for a beginner baker. Cake balls have been a recent craze however, after growing up eating these homemade cake balls I couldn’t imagine ever buying one somewhere else. What makes these little treats so yummy is that I use sweetened condensed milk to add moisture to the cake balls. Most other recipes for cake balls use store-bought frosting (which I am not a fan of). Trust me, once you try a cake ball with sweetened condensed milk you will never go back to making them any other way.
Another great thing about cake balls is that you can decorate them however you want. I am in the process of updating all the pictures for my recipes and since it is getting close to valentines day I figured I would make them fit the occasion. They are equally delicious whether you just coat them with plain chocolate or go crazy with sprinkles.

Mix the sweetened condensed milk using your hands and then form the mixture into one inch balls. Freeze the cake balls for 30 minutes. Dip the frozen cake balls into melted chocolate, make sure all sides are coated. Place on sheet tray lined with wax paper and allow the chocolate to cool and harden. If adding sprinkles, make sure to add them before the chocolate coating has a chance to harden.
